Please read this agreement carefully before accessing or using the information and services available through the sandgoanna.com.au website (”Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions below. Sand Goanna may modify this agreement at any time, and such modifications shall be effective immediately upon posting the modified agreement on the Site. Sand Goanna also has a comprehensive privacy policy for users of the Site.|

CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY

Please read our Cancellation Policy carefully!  If you fail to attend a class on the day there is no refund of the course fee.

Changes to course bookings by you:

 

If you have paid for a course that you need to cancel or change to another date, please give us 5 days notice of your need to cancel or change to another date.  This can be done by phoning our offices.

Notice given within 0-4 working days prior to course commencement - No Refund.
Notice given more than 5 working days prior to course commencement - Full refund.

We will do our best to arrange another course for you or if this is not possible, we will give you a full refund on the course fee.  All changes to courses are confirmed in writing to you so please retain this as proof of notification of the change.

If prior to the commencement of a course an individual participant is unable to attend the course, a full refund will be given provided notice is given prior to the course commencement. 

Cancellation of a booking by you:

Due to illness or hardship:  On the day of training if you cannot attend a course due to illness or hardship, we will require certification from a medical practitioner or your employer confirming your reason for being unable to attend.  You can re-book at no cost in this situation.

Failure to attend on the day of training without notice:

If you have paid and fail to attend a course on the set day there is no refund of course fees.

 

Where a group booking has been made ‘48’ hours notification of a cancellation is required and SAND GOANNA reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to $150 in order to cover administration costs undertaken up to that time.

 

 

SAND GOANNA reserves the right to withdraw or withhold certifications or qualifications for training received when a refund is made.  However, where a refund is made and it is established that the trainee/student complaint is fully justified SAND GOANNA will not withdraw or withhold certification.

 

In the event that illness or other unforseen circumstance should prevent an individual participant from completing a course for which full payment has been made to SAND GOANNA, the participant will be offered a place in another course free of charge in order to complete the qualification, otherwise a partial refund (up to 50%) may be given (a doctor’s certificate may be requested).

 

RPL (recognition of prior learning) Policy Applications for RPL will be managed and assessed by a staff member with relevant qualifications

 

Recognition of Prior Learning:  In accordance with the principles of competency based training SAND GOANNA has a policy of fully recognising prior learning. SAND GOANNAP/L will recognise qualifications under Australian First Aid’s scope of registration under HLTO7 Health, HLTFACPR201A ‘Perform CPR’, HLTFA201A ‘Provide Basic Emergency Life Support’, HLTFA301B ‘Apply First Aid’, HLTFA302A ‘Provide First Aid in Remote Situation’, HLTFA402B ‘Apply Advanced First Aid’. HLTFA403A ‘Manage First Aid in the Workplace’, HLTFA404A ‘Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques’.

 

Claims for the recognition of prior learning can be initiated by a trainee/student or by a trainer on behalf of a trainee/student.  However, the compiling of evidence to support any such claim is the sole responsibility of the trainee/student, although SAND GOANNA will provide guidance and advice where necessary.  All claims for recognition of prior learning must be put in writing and be supported by a portfolio of evidence, which is to be prepared and submitted by the trainee/student.

 

Procedure for claiming Recognition of Prior Learning:  All claims for RPL are to be resolved within 30 working days from receipt of the claimant’s portfolio of evidence.

 

All claims for RPL are to be placed before the relevant Course Advisory Committee, which considers the applicant’s case and is authorised to grant full or partial RPL following ratification by the Managing Director.  All decisions regarding the granting of RPL are to be fully documented and a written report on all cases is to be provided to the Managing Director who is to table these at the next meeting of the Course Committee.

 

Each claim for RPL is to be dealt with by a Courses Advisory Committee within 15 working days from the receipt of the written application and portfolio of evidence.  All instances where this time limit is exceeded are to be reported in writing to the Managing Director who may order the matter to be resolved within five working days.

 

 

The Managing Director has the authority to remove a claim for RPL from the authority of a Courses Advisory Committee and to place it before the Course Committee.

 

All claims for RPL are to be placed before the Managing Director for ratification. The Managing Director can refuse to ratify the decision of a Courses Advisory Committee.  Where such a refusal occurs, then the matter must be placed before the Course Committee for a final decision. The Course Committee must consider all disputes regarding RPL within 10 working days of the matter being tabled.

 

The decision of the Course committee is final, but can be challenged by the RPL applicant before the Equity Committee.

 

Assessment Criteria: Assessment of a claim for RPL is to be based on the portfolio of evidence supplied by the claimant and existing competency is to be confirmed by practical and/or theoretical assessments as required by the relevant Courses Advisory Committee, the Managing Director of the Course Committee.  Only the Equity Committee can alter the requirements set for RPL in individual cases and only as a result of a formal complaint brought before it for decision.

 

Complaints & Appeals procedures:- In the instance of a student wishing to lodge a complaint or appeal the following process is advised:

1.    Student should attempt to resolve issue with trainer or supervisor concerned if appropriate

2.    Should a satisfactory outcome not result, the student should then document their complaint and forward it to their employer or his/her nominated staff member, where a further attempt to resolve the issue will be made.  If the student is a member of the public they are to document their complaint and forward it to the Operations Manager of SAND GOANNAP/L to address these concerns.

3.    On receipt of the completed form the employer will arrange a meeting for an independent mediator to intervene at the expense of SAND GOANNAP/L.  The student will also be given the opportunity to convey their complaints to the State Registering Body

4.    SAND GOANNAP/L will resolve any complaints fairly and equitably within 10 working days

Fulfilment:         All individuals are to be allowed to fulfil their need for physical and spiritual well being by receiving the service for which they have paid and/or being financially paid for their contribution, by having their contribution openly acknowledged, and by being given the opportunity to express their opinions in an atmosphere free from censure.

 

Equity Committee:  SAND GOANNA is to have an Equity Committee charged with ensuring that the principles set out in this document are implemented and policed.  The Committees is to be the final arbitrator of all disputes with the company and seek guidance and advice from bodies outside the company.

 

The Equity Committee reports directly to the Board of Directors and its decisions are binding upon Australian First Aid
